MELBOURNE, April 2 AAP - A bankrupt Melbourne mother of four couldn't believe her luckwhen $325,000 was accidentally deposited in a bank account she had opened for her daughter.

Thirty-year-old Jodie Parchomenko couldn't resist the windfall and by the time theblunder was discovered weeks later she had helped herself to $255,000, the Victorian CountyCourt heard today.

When questioned by police, Parchomenko, of Oakleigh, was unable to account for thebulk of the cash, saying she had gambled much of it away on the pokies and had paid billsfor herself and a number of friends.

She also said she had spent $30,000 on drugs.

The court heard that on 13 occasions between early and late May last year, Parchomenkowent to the Mount Waverley branch of the Bank of Melbourne to make large withdrawals,usually of $10,000 but one time took out $50,000.

She also made cash transfers to other accounts through the internet.

The court heard the money had been deposited by a law firm, but it had accidentallyentered Parchomenko's account.

Parchomenko said she "got a bit excited" when she found the money in her account.

Parchomenko has pleaded guilty to stealing the money.

A pre-sentencing hearing before Judge Susan Cohen is continuing.
