Fed: Cosgrove optimistic about solutions to conflict
Army chief PETER COSGROVE says he's optimistic global conflicts won't develop into a world war.
News Limited papers report that Lieutenant-General COSGROVE'S boss, defence chief CHRISBARRIE, yesterday said some key analysts are talking about a third world war.
Admiral BARRIE reportedly told a Senate inquiry that the global situation is seriousand the Middle East is spiralling out of control.
Asked about the comments today, Lieutenant-General COSGROVE says he's not sure aboutthe detail or the context in which they were made.
He says it's right for people to be concerned about the instability and the uncertaintyaround the globe.
But he says he's fairly optimistic that sensible people will find solutions.
